Belated post this week thanks to Halloween and the elections. Apologies. I’m not sure anyone heard the Countdown on Saturday with XMU playing their annual all-covers day, but if they did, it’s a strong list. Not much change, but Holly Humberstone and The Backseat Lovers joined the party — not a big surprise if you listen to AltNation. “Kilby Girl” is already in heavy rotation, and Madison loves Humberstone. Caamp’s departs, and while they’ve come back before, it seems like the end of the road for By and By. The Robert DeLong/Ashe tune, “Better in College,” leaves after just a week. Glass Animals roll along at No. 1 with “Tangerine.”
Madison this week mused if the ‘Kilby Girl’ debut at No. 8 on the Alt18 was the highest ever. Actually, “Tangerine” also debuted at No. 8 on Sept. 19 of this year.
Finally, so happy for Abhi the Nomad’s success with “Me No Evil” jumping up 10 spots. Great song from a true indie artist breaking through. The song is right in the mix to supplant Glass Animals at No. 1, though my money is on Bastille next week. Cheers!
